Life at times, willing gives us moments where we find ourselves standing at the edge of the unknown, staring into the abyss of uncertainty. It’s in these pivotal moments that our courage is tested, and our faith is called upon to bridge the gap between where we are and where we want to be. As we navigate the twists and turns of our journey, we often encounter situations where the outcome is beyond our control. Yet, it is precisely in these moments that we are presented with an opportunity to show up, to lean into our faith, and to trust in the plans of the Lord that graciously guides our steps.
In the book of 1 Timothy 1:7, we are reminded, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” This scripture serves as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path of courage and faith. It speaks to the inherent strength that resides within each of us, a strength that is not derived from our own abilities, but from Jesus’s source of all power and love.
Bridging the gap between where we are and where we want to be requires courage – the courage to face our fears, the courage to step out of our comfort zones, and the courage to embrace the unknown with open arms. It’s easy to allow fear to paralyze us, to keep us tethered to the safety of the familiar. But true courage lies in taking that first step, in spite of the uncertainty that lies ahead.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the willingness to act in spite of it. It’s about acknowledging our fears and doubts, and yet choosing to move forward by faith. It’s about recognizing that we may not have all the answers, but trusting that we are being guided by the Lord Jesus Christ, who knows the way.
One of the greatest examples of courage and faith in the face of uncertainty can be found in the story of David and Goliath. Faced with an insurmountable foe, David, a mere shepherd boy, stepped forward to confront the giant with nothing but a sling and a stone. In that moment, he embodied the spirit of courage – a courage that was rooted not in his own strength, but in his unwavering faith in God.
Like David, we too are called to step forward with courage, trusting in the power of faith to carry us through even the most daunting of challenges. We may not always know the outcome, but we can rest assured knowing that we are never alone in our journey.
Showing up when we can’t control the outcome requires trust – trust in the Lord, trust in what Jesus has spoken, and trust in God’s strength who holds our destinies in His hands. It’s about surrendering our need for control and embracing the uncertainty of life with open hearts and open minds.
In the midst of uncertainty, it can be easy to lose sight of our faith and succumb to doubt and despair. But it is precisely in these moments that we are called to anchor ourselves in the truth of God’s promises. For as it says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
When we relinquish control and surrender to the Lord’s plans that is unfolding before us, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities beyond our wildest dreams. We discover that courage is not just an act of bravery, but a profound act of faith – a faith that empowers us to step boldly into the unknown and embrace whatever may come our way.
So let’s bridge the gap and embrace courage with open arms, trusting in the faithfulness of the Lord to carry us through even the darkest of nights. Let us bridge the gap between where we are and where we want to be, knowing that with God by our side, all things are possible. And let us show up, again and again, knowing that the steps of our journey is guided by God’s love who knows no bounds.
